Once the tooth is extracted, pain has subsided, we get back to our routine and many of us are never bothered to get it replaced as we are not aware of the importance of replacing the missing teeth and the consequences that arise in the longrun due to missing teeth. So, lets throw some light on this aspect.

CONSEQUENCES OF HAVING A MISSING TOOTH/TEETH:

  1.   The adjacent teeth may shift and loosen up.
  2. Leads to Bite Alignment Issues due to shifting of teeth from their original place.
  3. This further leads to uneven wear of teeth causing TMJ (tempero-mandibular joint) problems.
  4. Muscles droop overtime causing facial sagging.
  5. Causes the underlying jaw bone to deteriorate further lowering the jaw density.
  6. Nutrition is compromised because of improper or incomplete chewing of food.
  7. Missing teeth not only affects the teeth and jaw but also affects the overall health. Missing teeth reduces the vertical teeth height causing  compression in the spine leading to pain in lowerback, neck, pelvic region and legs.

IMPORTANCE OF REPLACING THE EXTRACTED/MISSING TEETH:

  • It maintains the structure of your face, thus, prevents facial sagging.
  • Restores the ability to chew food naturally. So, you can always enjoy your favourite food .
  • Your smile and speech are enhanced.
  • Replacing teeth helps to keep the other teeth in place, ensuring your mouth stays healthy with good oral care.
  • Maintains the health of jaw bone and gums.
  • Creates balanced forces while eating, thus reducing the chances of uneven wear of teeth and bite alignment issues.
  • Maintains the overall health of the body by preventing the complications arising due to loss of vertical tooth height.
